2014 Tax Information

While library staff cannot answer your tax questions, we have many resources that will help you find all the answers.

Need to apply for an extension?

Federal extension information

What about requesting an extension to file a return?
Kansas automatically accepts the federal extension. No separate extension request needs to be made to the Department when filing electronically.

Tax Forms

Wichita Public Library’s annual Tax Form Distribution Program begins in January and runs through April 15. While we hope to have many commonly used forms on hand, please call ahead to the location you intend to visit to confirm what is in stock.  You can always print any forms you need from a Library location for 10 cents per page. 

Federal Tax Information

Locally, there is an IRS office in Wichita: 555 N. Woodlawn, Bldg. 4. Their hours are listed as Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Call (316) 352-7401 to learn more about their services or to ask questions.

The Library will have a limited number of federal tax forms available. You can print any form you need on demand at

State of Kansas

There is no local Kansas Department of Revenue tax office in Wichita. For answers about your state taxes, you can call the Topeka office at (785) 368-8222 or go online to

The State of Kansas only sends paper tax forms upon request. The Library will not receive any paper Kansas tax forms or Homestead booklets, so to request your own please call (785) 296-4937. You can request one Kansas income tax booklet to be sent to your home address. Residents can go to for free and safe online filing for Kansas Individual Income Tax Returns. 

Sedgwick County

Sedgwick County does not have an income tax. Visit the County Treasurer's website to learn about the taxes it does assess.

Get Help Preparing your Taxes

The easiest way to get help is to call United Way of the Plains at 211. It offers income-based tax preparation assistance at a variety of locations in Wichita. United Way will help you determine your closest tax prep location and schedule your appointment.
