Flourishing, Not Subsisting

If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be. - Thomas Jefferson, 1816

Fine libraries across America exist with public funds, but it is only through private gifts that they flourish.

Since its founding in 1986, the Library Foundation, a tax exempt public charity, has been raising money for the library system in Wichita. In creating an endowment now valued at $3.8 million and winning over $900,000 in grants during the last decade, we have won the support and interest of a wide variety of donors, from local businesses to national foundations. Our success reflects the true nature and diverse appeal of public libraries across the nation.

By contributing to the library endowment, our donors, regardless of background or amount of resources, share a desire to protect and basic, widely used and priceless community resource. We welcome your interest and ask you to consider becoming a donor to the library.
